Bulgaria Air Domestic Flight Review

There aren't a lot of Bulgaria Air threads in this forum. The most recent I could find were from 2016.

We flew them recently from Sofia to Burgas and thought I'd share our perspective.

It’s a no-frills experience. But it gets you to the Bulgarian Black Sea coast much faster than the bus or train!

Bulgaria Air had 100.62 leva ($57.87 US) one-way tickets to Burgas that left Sofia in the afternoon. The bus would have been 14 leva but would have taken 4.5 hours instead of 45 minutes.

You cannot choose your seat on domestic Bulgaria Air flights until you check in starting 24 hours before the flight. So we were diligent and checked in right on time. That earned us row 4 seats.

We checked a bag using the online check in bag drop lane at SOF and saved a ton of time over standing in the regular check-in line. So check in online not just for the seats but also for the bag drop line!

The Bulgaria Air domestic flights from SOF to Varna and Burgas leave from a little D1 gate area that is nothing more than a small room with (bizarrely) a duty-free counter. It has its own mini security lane.

Boarding is slow from the D1 gate and leads to a long walk to a bus in any case.

The flight was short, bumpy and no-frills.

Overall, it was the quickest way to the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. And compared to a bus experience...well...it was similar! But faster!

I wrote a blog post about the flight: https://readyjetroam.com/2019/07/11/...fia-to-burgas/
