I had a similar situation with LGW-VCE-LGW CE in November. The original departure around midday was cancelled and we were auto rebooked onto a later flight. It didn't work for us as we virtually miss an evening. Eventually got through to BA Holidays after numerous attempts and a friendly agent changed our flight to an earlier one. Also agreed to change the outbound from LHR as we live closer. No questions and free of charge.

I have a niggling feeling our inbound flight will suffer a similar fate but we'll cross that bridge when the email comes through
