Do you hold the DL Amex Reserve card? 3 months is the default for the Reserve card - this is because the Reserve card allows you to choose to take the MQMs youself, or you can give them to someone else. If you make no choice in three months, the MQMs post to your SkyMiles account as the default action.
DL sends an email when you reach the threshold asking if you want to keep or gift the MQMs, so shouldn’t have to wait 3 months if you take that step.
