I love that post whenever you post it Dr. HFH, however two questions, if you are platinum with QR and now switching to AA or BA you will have to start at the bottom so you will not get any bonuses when flying them for the initial few months/1 year assumedly or is there a way to do that?

Also the itnerary is crazy! what happens if you used a standard say BKK to BOS as you said you often do, which one comes out on top?

For me I reviewed your analysis many times and was thinking of going to BA the issue is I make weekly flights Muscat to Doha in Economy, I get around 10-14 Qpoints for these trips weekly, for BA i would get 10 tierpoints for this, and as Gold is 1500 with BA and 540 with QR, it is significantly harder for me take a few J flights and boost my tier points for BA whereas with QA if I in addition to my weekly trips do one of two J trips i comfortably make platinum.

My issue now is my son is turning 2 and I want to start earning points on him and QR doesn't allow this as far as I know but BA does so do I just bite the bullet start from the bottom and start trying to accrue status with BA?
