Hello AC community from a Lufthansa Group forum member.
My daughter is studying in Canada, but will visit us in Europe around Xmas. Our plans for the New Year, however, is that four of us in the family visit Cuba and the best offer right now is on Lufthansa ticket stock with outbound Europe-PTY-HAV and return HAV-YYZ-Europe, where HAV-YYZ is operated by AC Rouge and YYZ-Europe is operated by AC.
Would my daughter be allowed to short-check her suitcase on HAV-YYZ and leave us in YYZ?
If she were to come back with us to Europe, she’d be in Europe for 24 hours max and then head back to Canada... Pricing her ticket open-jaw seems complicated due to the carrier mix (need to use a TA + presumably a completely different fare). Buying two separate trips (EU-YYZ-EU and YYZ-HAV-YYZ) becomes a longer total journey and has the same cost in Economy as the LH stock offer in Business.
So... short-checking with AC Rouge for HAV-YYZ seems the best scenario - but will it work? She will have a 25kg suitcase, so stepping off without checking a bag is not an option.
Any advice on this, or suggestions how to construct the travel plan differently, would be appreciated.
