BA3295 at Munich and general Munich Airport questions
Hi all,
A friend and I are flying from London City to Munich on BA3295, booked to arrive 2145. We are booked to catch the sleeper train which leaves Munich Hauptbahnhof at 2320, but could if necessary pick it up at Munich Ostbahnhof at 2331.
We had intended to catch the S-Bahn, for a nice and easy trip to the station with an option to get off at Ostbahnhof if things were getting too late, but I have just discovered today that the railway in the airport area is closed that evening for engineering works. Oops.
Therefore, I had a few questions to kind of gauge the added risk here:
* Does anyone know if BA3295 is normally a bus or a jetty at Munich? I get the impression from elsewhere that as long as it's a jetty, getting through Munich airport is pretty rapid. The flight is Stobart Air metal on the day I'm travelling if that makes any difference.
* Preliminary research shows that the next quickest way to Munich Hauptbahnhof after the S-Bahn is the Lufthansa Express Bus. Does anyone know how reliable the timings for this are? The 2200-ish bus should be able to get me on time, as in theory should the 2220-ish bus (though this one is much dodgier, as it leaves only about 10 minutes). Are these timings usually adhered closely to?
* More research shows me that a taxi to Ostbahnhof in practice is a quicker and more reliably fast journey, being reliably doable in around half an hour at that time of night. Is this accurate? If we arrive sufficiently late then hopefully I can still get there on time in a taxi.
PS: There are alternatives to get to where we need to be on time if all this does go to pot and we end up missing our sleeper, but for obvious reasons we'd much rather catch it!
