Leaving from YWG when living in the Midwest

Good Morning!

When I go to CPH I always have to connect in MSP, because that is the Delta hub when leaving from my town.
I am looking for tickets to leave within the next two weeks and naturally the prices are crazy high. However, when I search for tickets leaving out of YWG, it is a lot cheaper - probably in part due to the Canadian dollar.

If I leave from YWG, I would still go thru MSP to get to CPH, but I also have to go thru MSP to get to YWG!

So my question is: Is it "allowed" to buy two separate tickets, through-check my luggage and go thru the same airport twice in one trip?
I would go to YWG (thru MSP) using Pay with miles and then go YWG-MSP-AMS-CPH on another ticket in a higher fare class, but lower price.
Can that be done?
