Unless you look like a lousy pack-packer likely to cause troubles in Thailand, a farang (Western visitor) 99.99% chance that you will not be asked to show any money. This requirement is meant to provide an excuse to deny entry to poor citizens from neighboring countries or other un-wanted visitors to the Kingdom. Also highly unlikely you will be asked to provide any proof of hotel booking - just fill out the immigration card with your hotel info and you will be fine.
