Returned for my first visit in almost four years for a thee-night stay over July 4th week for my wife's birthday and wow this place is better than ever.

I booked a three-night stay using my corporate code for about $300 per night and used a TSU to confirm a suite. I reached out to the VIP manager in advance to let them know it was my wife's birthday and to ask for a different suite than the one over the luau after a less than stellar stay last time. Shelby promised to do her best and boy did she. Upon arrival the FDC informed me that we had been upgraded to the Presidential Suite. It was a really great surprise and made my wife's day. They also stocked the suite with a huge basket of snacks, chocolates and cookies for her and a six pack of Maui beer for me.

The suite was really large - over 2,000 square feet - and had amazing 270 degree views of Maui from seven different lanais. It had two bedrooms, a kitchen, dinning room and three huge sectional couches. Honestly, it was too big for just the two of us.

Outside of the amazing upgrade, this was my first stay since the lounge was moved and the new location is much nicer. The food spread was above average for a North American resort so no complaints here. Also I was not charged for evening drinks, not sure if that is a policy or I just wasn't charged but I'll take free drinks.

The pool situation is what it is. I love the pools here, but the towel game is in full effect. We found that residence pool was much quieter and easier to grab chairs after breakfast.

It was a great stay with no complaints. Hell at $300 a night for the Presidential Suite I might move to Maui. A quick recommendation for Sala Pepe, a great Italian place in Lahaina. Seriously, great handmade pasta and brick oven pizza. Family ran by very wonderful people. Probably the best meal we had on the island.
