If you paid $1100 CAD, you're not full fare. That's below my "don't think, just buy" price for a flight like that. I have routinely paid more than that for economy (and then upgraded).
And I don't know why you'd think the cabin would be full of upgrades. It's a PLH route because they tend to sell the seats.
