I'm sitting in the food court area just outside the TSA checkpoint at CMH. (Thanks to CMH for providing free wireless service!) The pre-recorded announcement here specifically says that passengers should remove their shoes and place them sole-side down directly on the conveyor belt. And, everytime I've gone through security here I've been pulled aside for secondary screening when wearing sneakers.
