Aha, yes that is a good question. Not sure tbh, but you are right it may complicate things potentially. I think regardless we agree that booking the BA flight 1hr 25 mins after scheduled arrival is an unwise plane even if you can guarantee any bags get checked thro.
FWIW, the MCT that would have been applicable if this were a single ticket would be 1:45. That shows just how lucky one would have to be go actually make it to the 1440 LHR-AMS.

I don't myself quite understand the reluctance to change the ticket. Via LHR, if the OP makes it to a 1640 LHR-AMS (which I can't see in the timetable), that would arrive at about 1900. But if the ticket were changed to DOH-AMS, the OP would arrive in AMS at 1345. That's a huge time saving for someone who professes that they "kinda what to get to AMS as soon as I can", for whom waiting even two more hours at LHR would be unpalatable, and for whom there would still be some connection risk meaning a big disruption to the journey. (The connection risk can be entirely removed by not having a connection.)
As far as I can see, the next BA after the 1440 actually departs some time between 1600 and 1620, depending on day of the week.
