CPH to FCO

There are the suggested ways of doing this via HEL or LHR. There are alternatives depending upon which way you like to travel. Firstly, if you are after status points and miles then this gives a completely different way of answering the question from leave CPH at 1700 and get me to Rome for dinner!

As you are a QF member then I assume that the 1000+, 2700+ and 5000+ mileage barriers are of interest. Nobody has mentioned our Spanish cousins at Iberia for the Barcelona or Madrid hub alternatives.

If bored, then YVR to USA AA hub then back to West Coast USA and then Europe. This should chip in a couple of the 1000+ sectors in addition to the YVR direct. In addition, YVR to LHR is around 4710 miles, whereas LAX and SFO appear to break the 5000+ barrier. Just a thought for status points.

If you get stuck on 1W then you could consider taking Maersk Airlines from CPH to FCO. There minimum fare is about 69 Euro but it does not run every day of the week. www.cph.dk for the airport website, www.maersk-air.com/en for the airline. I used to use them a lot LGW to CPH and they had great service. The fares are sold on the basis of seat pitch, the more you pay the bigger the seat! I have not flown them since they converted to low cost carrier status. alitalia is known to offer bargins "Always Late In Take-off And Late In Arrival" is in financial trouble at the moment so it may be worth a punt at their site for a direct flight (and the endless strike delays and other such fun...)

In Europe, you are going to get stuck with the best of one 1000+ and one sub 1000 flight for the hubs between CPH and FCO. If you were to buy the additional ticket option for Europe then you would have enough sectors to do the mileage and status runs to the Middle East, you would not want CAI as it is sub 2700 but the Gulf states hit your pointless travel bonus area. Alternatively you could go out of Europe to BAH and then on to HKG...

good luck and happy landings.
