I have more than once had AAgent tell me a partner award hold is not guaranteed. Worst: I have lost a partner redemption opportunity personally 2x because of this. Put on hold, go to book less than 5 days later and not have it ticket only to find it has been released by the partner. I know of one other person that had the same thing happen.
Not trying to strike fear or confuse, rather trying to educate people that this is a possibility.
Certainly not doubting you, however as mentioned this type of thing is
exceedingly rare (and I wouldn't take anything that random phone agent said one time as fact).
If AA couldn't all but guarantee a partner award hold, or if there were recurring issues with partners dropping held award space, you can bet AA wouldn't waste any time in getting rid of this feature. And there would definitely be a lot more noise on here as well.
