Presumably if you'd simply walked up to the ticket desk at LHR without making the call the £25 would never have even be mentioned...

I thought the £25 was pretty much just for changing tickets, not new bookings (and have always had it waived if I go to the ticket desk or the EC as I am silver - if I use our corporate travel agent it generally gets charged).
