Having travelled on ANA before (in F connecting to domestic Japan Y), I can say they are quite strict on the baggage dimensions. The staff will use a measuring tape if the item appears large or bulky enough, and I was transporting skis at that time.

However this experience was from a few years back so they might have been more lenient since then. In both cases, because I was travelling in F, they did not charge me.
