For my last break:
i) Decided that I needed to go somewhere on Monday.
ii) Booked flights and hotel on Monday (then asked a few questions on this forum).
iii) Bought the Lonely Planet Guide on Tuesday.
iv) Travelled on Wednesday, reading the Lonely Planet guide en-route and deciding what I wanted to do.
I had a thoroughly good time. At the moment, I'm actually doing the opposite and planning ahead a bit as I'd quite like to do 7 days in Paris on October.
