I needed a 4 day rental in PBI over a long weekend. I am an AAA member and asked CT to seek the AAA discount which it did. At first I needed a Van and CT quoted Dollar at a price that matched the best web price from any provider. Plans changed and I wanted a full or premium sized car. CT quoted Hertz (was just $2/day higher than Dollar and is my preferred provider) and was $75 over the quoted internet rate. Wondering if that was a web special, I called Hertz and got a quote that was $30 higher than the web but still $45 under CT.

So I told CT to forget the car and to get me a hotel reservation at the AAA rate or senior rate at a Courtyard. Its quote was $20 higher than from Marriott. There are no CT special amenities or other benefits at Courtyards.

Lesson here is that if you have time and nothing better to do than pull quotes from the web you can usually beat any travel agent. CT sometimes has special arrangements that make it worth using.

I saved with taxes over $160 in about an hour. Not a bad terurn on my time.
