I had an early morning flight out of JFK and stayed here the night before as I had a Category 1-4 certificate to use and this seemed like one of the better options. To get to JFK it’s a ten minute walk to Atlantic Terminal and then a <20 minute LIRR ride to Jamaica, the hotel worked well for that purpose.

I agree with the above poster that the neighborhood is transitional. There were families walking about with young children and I didn’t feel unsafe, but the area is not polished. There is a brewery on the same block as the hotel that my wife and son visited; I arrived too late but my wife really enjoyed the beer and they have food as well altho she felt it was overpriced for food. As the above poster notes the roof deck is beautiful and has great views. On a clear night you can see aircraft bound for JFK, LGA, and EWR and of course the lower Manhattan skyline.

The front desk agent gave my son a brownie at checkin so he gives the hotel two thumbs up. We left too early for breakfast so I can’t comment on that.

The room was basic but clean and worked just fine. There was some street noise (mostly from heavy trucks passing by) but nothing too bad. I don’t think this is a destination hotel but I would stay again if I had to be in the area and if the price was right.
