Boeing is no different than many other large corporations including United. I can go back 30 years ago and you’re working on projects ranging from tens of millions to hundreds of millions back then and you are being nickel and dimed on the costs, dealing with outsourcing, down-sizing , re-engineering, etc.

I used to joke that I was glad my employer wasn’t building software for aircraft because I, knowing how the sausage was made at this particular company, would never be able to fly again. I have to admit my trust in Boeing being better/different is somewhat shaken.
That said, $9/hr * 40 hrs * 50 weeks amounts to $18k a year. I don’t think they would be allowed to hire H1Bs for that amount.
