I have a one-way booked from AUH-JFK in F, ultimately hoping to add a JFK-SEA leg at the end. While there is plenty of coach seats for the JFK-SEA leg, The Trinidad agent could not add it, said there needed to be F space that was not pricing in the aanytime category. Find award availability (using AA web site, AA app, ExpertFlyer, BA web site, etc.) and then call a US agent to add it. You might have to accept a suboptimal routing (JFK-xxx-SEA or even JFK-xxx-yyy-SEA). If your flights are far in the future, then there is a good chance of significant schedule changes allowing you to rebook more optimal flights. Otherwise, set an EF alert for award space on your desired flights, and call to switch if any open up.
