I moved this thread into the TravelBuzz! forum for two reasons:
  1. I believe this thread deserves a larger audience to participate in it. Subsequently, it should include FlyerTalk members from around the world who travel on airlines other than Delta Air Lines — as well as other modes of transportation — into the discussion. This would help bring in fresh new perspectives on this discussion as well as additional opinions from other FlyerTalk members who otherwise may not know that this thread even exists.
  2. Secondly, while there are a few mileposts in this thread that do address Delta Air Lines, the topic of this thread really does not specifically pertain solely to Delta Air Lines.
For those FlyerTalk members who might believe that this thread should not have been moved, I had thought about moving this thread ever since I first read it some time ago. However, I wanted to wait until the participation in this thread by Delta forum FlyerTalk members slowed down before doing so to give everybody in the Delta forum a chance to participate. Also, even though this thread has been moved, FlyerTalk members may still access it from the Delta forum as well as from the TravelBuzz! forum. Delta forum members are certainly not excluded from the discussion.

In no way am I criticizing LUVTPA for starting the thread in the Delta forum; in fact, quite the opposite is true — the topic is an excellent one to discuss. Again, because of its topic and the interesting discussion within it, this thread simply deserves more exposure to the rest of FlyerTalk.

Let us please continue the discussion in the TravelBuzz! forum.

Thank you.

My personal contribution to this thread is that I simply look up behind me to see who is pulling on my seat, merely out of sheer curiosity. Most of the time, the “offender” automatically apologizes and says “excuse me” to me even though I do not intentionally attempt to solicit the apology. I usually say that it is not a problem. Also, it rarely happens excessively, so it usually does not bother me.

On the other hand, when someone is kicking the back of my seat — well, that is another story altogether, perhaps worthy of its own thread...
