That hasn't been the case for probably at least 10 years. You can't cancel the inbound of a return after the trip has commenced, but you can change the time/date and the route within the same band.
Now I'm not sure if I follow you. I was not talking about cancelling anything, I was pointing out that two one-way redemptions are more flexible that a single return.
