the service center is competent. i once had cathay flight hkg-tpe on 1 ticket and returning as tpe-hkg-sin as other ticket. due to weather there was massive delay. i simply asked CX to fly hkg-sin which was fine, and i asked for "involuntary rerouting due to weather" letter from CX, submit with ticket to QF
wola after 2wk ORC for non flowm hkg-tpe return showed up. so they are definitely capable. not sure if my WP status helped or not.
you case only involves QF so shue be even easier.
