One thing I remember from the DC-10 debacle of the '70s-'80s: Once these things are back in the air again, there are going to be a lot of available seats, award seats, etc. for a good long while as people deliberately avoid MAXes.
With 5000 on order, and undoubtedly more as time passes, they will become ubiquitous very quickly and unavoidable, especially if you're unwilling to fly alternative airlines.
