Pretty much anything by Bill Bryson, although I'd definitely agree that In a Sunburned Country (which I read with its UK title, Down Under) merits special mention.

Missing from the list is John McPhee's Coming into the Country. Now 40 years old, it's still the best book about Alaska that I've ever read, and many people seem to agree.
