So your firends are sitting in the middle? PSTN to my SIP phone and SIP to PSTN, but not going as far as a vonage?
If you have a regular SIP phone then you'll still need a gateway, FreeWorldDialup is a good example.

I WISH Vonage did SIP (and offered their settings) as I'd love to hook up a Cisco IP phone to it...
