You have the correct information and links. You are NOT REQUIRED to remove your shoes before you enter the walk-through metal detector. You should not be penalized for not removing non-profile shoes.

I do not believe in this, my FSD doesn't and my airports do not participate in the shoe carnival but if someone has "profiled" shoes on, is asked to take them off and doesn't they have to go to secondary screening. Sorry, thats the rules.

It is up to the judgment of the screener on what a profile shoe is (based on the guidelines)
