This seems to be same issue as occurs with Swiss flights. Had the same thing last year in ZRH-TXL award booking. Also couldn’t select seats in advance even though on a regular economy booking you should be able to.

But indeed at check-in I was able to check bag at no charge without a problem and also took advantage of the Star Gold extra baggage allowance.
