I've read anecdotes of spending up to 4 hours crossing the border. So worst case scenario of 4 hours each way, I'll still have time. But not a minute extra! There are also two later flights than mine back to Dubai that would still get me there in time for my flight to the US.

I do realize that this is absolute worst case scenario, so I'm not expecting to spend all day at the border crossings. I plan to spend any extra time in Bahrain rather than Saudi Arabia. For one thing, I want to get the border crossings behind me to minimize problems getting back to the airport in time for my flight. Plus, I have already been in Saudi Arabia, but this will be my first time visiting Bahrain.
