Have you been to the GH Erawan bar (Spasso) at night? Blasting awful music so loud that you can hear it in the lobby above, and when I went there to meet a friend for a beer… the crowd other than us was a handful of caucasian visitors, and a couple dozen working girls looking for customers. Very strange vibe for an upscale hotel bar. I wouldn't really be comfortable meeting anyone for a drink here that wasn't a working girl.
