Situation at EDI as far as I have observed:

Passengers arriving off international flights are channelled from the aircraft to the airside arrivals hall on the ground floor of the main terminal. Any pax wishing to transfer would have to go through immigration before making their way upstairs to the departure hall.

Passengers arriving off domestic flights are channelled through airside departures. Exception is at Gate 14 where pax are routinely channelled directly to the baggage hall on the ground floor, exposed to the wind and rain (Easyjet now seem to have exclusive use of Gate 14 for their LGW/STN/LTN services)
