Some benefit
If you are talking about instant upgrade fares, that is usually the case unless you are 75k.
If you are taking about GGU-eligible, that's occasionally true, but not in this case. AS 710 on 6/23 is currently showing lowest main at $294, GGU-eligible at $364, and paid first class at $569.
Personally I would not pay $70 to secure an upgrade on that flight (it's an easy comp upgrade) but if you want to, it's there.
