Is this a glitch?
Normally, you would get the partner's confirmation number, and then go on their website to manage your booking. This is the first time I was able to select a seat on a partner flight directly on Delta's website.
FYI: The first time I selected my seat on Delta.com, I received an error message stating that there was an issue, and to try again. I did, and then the seat selection stuck (at least I think).
Also, I don't see any other confirmation numbers on my booking receipt that I could use to manage my booking on China Eastern's website. How would I get this?
Delta is increasingly enabling seat selection on flights operated by partner airlines– it seems primarily those they have a JV with. As with anything on the Delta website, functionality can be buggy.
Delta does not provide other airlines’ confirmation codes in receipts or on the website. I’ve always had luck getting the OAL confirmation code via Twitter. Simply provide your Delta confirmation code and full name and they should be able to provide the corresponding partner airline booking reference.
