Most of my stays are pre-upgraded before check-in, for those that aren't, 30 seconds for a possible edge isn't a lot of work.
Not all properties are the St. Regis Aspen either. I have had two flights with mechanical issues. Working directly with the property through chat, I had one stay shortened (first night) and another completely cancelled while already checked-in
without penalty. Chat is a great feature.
