Check-in online and advise them of your anticipated arrival time via chat.
I will send them a message such as, "Hello, I will be arriving in "city" at "time" on "airline, flight #)". I anticipate I will be arriving at the property at "time." Thank you."
It gives the property a heads-up and they can prepare for your arrival. Then can also check to see if your flight is delayed.
Once I am enroute to the property, I will send a follow-up messags to let them know I am on my way and update my arrival time. If I haven't already been upgraded I will include a passive request for one.
"I am looking forward to my stay at your property. If available, any upgrades would be greatly appreciated. Thank you"
I have had great success with this approach and properties, in my experience, are appreciative of the additional arrival information above the time you indicate during OLCI.
