I have stayed at the Canyon Suites multiple times every couple of years since about 2005 or so. One of my favorites in the USA for a relaxing break that will not break the bank (off season). I particularly like that the pool is never ever crowded and I highly doubt you would ever have to try and "reserve" a lounger here. Coming from the east coast we were always up early and went for a dip early in the morning and always had it to ourselves. Also, few kids... even in the summer as they are more attracted to the big pool at the main resort. Finally the entire pool area is attractive no matter where you are or in which direction you look (unlike say The Sanctuary which looks good if you stand just here, and look just there). I have always found service to be pretty good. Particularly enjoyed the bartender during my last stay a couple of years ago.

Suites are extremely spacious with good quiet AC that does not create hurricane force winds. Parking is underground which keeps your car out of the hot sun, eliminates any parking lot views, and eliminates the need for valet parking (for me anyway). In fact you might have to walk farther to avail yourself of valet parking.

My first stay at the resort was when it still had the original décor. Although it would likely look dated now, it was my favorite as it blended in well with the entire room and there were modest touches of southwest décor. If you look at bhrubin's photos you can see certain things just don't match well... such as the crown molding, closet doors, bathtub, etc. That is because those are holdovers from the original design. They had a renovation probably 10 years ago that gave the rooms a more "Metropolitan" look, which was IMHO pretty terrible. The current style in bhrubin's photos was done a year or two ago and is not bad... but as with most renovations I have noted in the last 5 years... has been done with saving dollars as a primary motivator.

Here is is the original decor... perhaps a bit dated, but it is also cohesive.

Still, one of my favorite places to just do nothing except sit on the large balcony all day (rooms with direct pool view of course much, much nicer than the last sell room bhrubin was shown with a view of the pool mechanicals room). Pool noise not a major issue during my stays, but always possible to get a bad bunch of guests. View across the golf course lake to valley used to be very nice too, but not sure now as they have constructed a new recreation building that might have compromised the view.
