The bottom line is that AA will rebook on AA-AA and AA-OW separate tickets. But, the separate tickets cannot be combined and OP's bags will not be checked through (unless AA makes an error at check-in). In this situation, AA will not likely rebook other than on BA and will not handle hotel and food.
