What did you think of the exec lounge?
They squeeze a lot of gym equipment into a small space, and the stretch/free weight areas are inadequate. Whilst there is a fair gym selection it doesn't feel as usable as smaller less well equipped but more spacious gyms (e.g. a typical Hampton Inn) given the huge number of guests at the Metropole and the fact that they sell memberships too. The pool is good though.

I am with you on the breakfast though, for me it is at the better end of UK Hiltons (although that is not a high bar to pass), it has been a while since I have been to the DT Docklands but that wasn't at the high end of UK Hiltons either, breakfast across the board seems to have deteriorated to me with some honourable exceptions.

The Lounge and public areas seem to be the only part of this property that has had any attention in some 20 years. The lounge is decent enough but often rammed and poorly cleaned, way below the level of even the worst US hotel lounge I have ever visited (again a very low bar).
