HGI as in Hilton Garden Inn?

I'm also considering AirBnb. I had a good experience in Hawaii. Not sure if this is a decent option. I see options from low to mid $100 range in Downtown LA, but what is exactly Downtown LA? I'm not familiar with the geography of LA. Apparently this apartment, which I intend to rent for myself, is near 206 W 6th St BSMT, Los Angeles, CA 90014. It's also several blocks from Pershing Square, Red line station. Any comments?
I took a look at the address - the yelp reviews are terrible and it looks pretty sketchy from the outside. I'd recommend against it. The area isn't horrible - Downtown has become quite hipster in recent years but it's still a bit hit or miss with redevelopment in the midst of a vast homeless problem. I spend a weekend downtown each year with my spouse and we enjoy walking to places, taking public transportation to events, etc. However, we tend to stay a few blocks west of that location and it's much different - especially at night.

Downtown isn't a terrible option to stay because the lines emanate from there - you can take the red line to hollywood and then expo to santa monica
