I don't know the specifics, but there's something different about the wingtip structure of the 739 flight test articles that makes attaching the standard 737 NG winglets unfeasible.
from what I remember from my 767 flight test days, the internal structure on those birds has a lot of holes, brackets, etc that were necessary to accommodate instrumentation runs
