It's a personal decision really, as to how much time to allow. I would be entirely happy with the OP's timings, so long as being a day late wasn't the end of the world. The OP was just unlucky, yesterday they would have been fine and actually it's been a fairly good winter/spring/summer so far this year, weather wise. I hope the OP is able to recover from this OK.
