I really wish UA would add a west coast route. Of course my dream would be SEA-EZE non-stop but that hardly seems feasible! So my second choice would be LAX-EZE or SFO-EZE. I don't know how if it would be cost effective for UA or not but I would like it better than IAD-EZE.
Aerolineas' flights to LAX stopped in Lima, or at least they did right before the flight ended. It didn't end because of the economic crisis, it ended because Aerolineas Argentinas, being very poorly managed, shut down entirely a few years ago. They emerged about 6 months later under new ownership (Spain's Air Comet) and came back to Miami and New York City. Before they could return to LA, the FAA cut Argentina's category rating to Category II, which prevents te airline from adding another US destination. AR does plan to resume LAX (again, via Lima) in the future.
