How do the Ocean Suites rooms and experience compare with those at the Residences?

I am planning a 6-person family trip to Pine Cliffs in the fall with 2 sub-4 year old kids and 2 in-laws (both are older and retired). I am debating between 3-bedrooms at either the Ocean Suites or the Residences. Ocean Suites seem to be closer to the beach and have easier access to the pool (and to return for the kids' naps). The Residences seem more private, but, distances to beach/pool seem like they could be far (and are 25% cheaper).
