Presumably that's just the DSP they're not paying, though? And frankly, from some of the discussions on the pay levels I've seen, the top-up from SSP to DSP for some of the BA jobs isn't going to be huge.

As for 'poor attendance', well, fair enough, if you're forever taking sickies. But you don't choose to be ill. Should I have got this sack this year because I suffered a slipped disc?

Encouraging people to work when they're ill is thoroughly irresponsible. If you want to stop people taking sickies, provide them with a decent working environment, and punish only those who you know have crossed the line.
