If you do miss it then CA will rebook you and give you a hotel for free if you have to stay overnight, but probably a good idea to know what your preferred plan B is. I'm not familiar with the CA schedules to the east coast, but if the next DC flight is the following day, you might prefer to argue for some alternative routing.
