A variance could be Yvr/Ams;Ams/Cph then onto Rom etc
From SYD to YVR you'll have to go via HKG for the short version. You're going to be stuck passing through Asia on the way back anyway, so it won't add any extra continents. If you want to avoid Asia on the way out, you could fly SYD-HNL-DFW-YVR. In Europe you're hampered by the geographic location of the oneworld carriers' hubs, meaning you'll have to go through London for YVR-LHR-CPH-LHR-FCO-LHR, and from then on to SYD. AMS has the same problem. You'll still have plenty of segments to play with in North America and Asia, but you're maxed out in Europe.
