I am booking a week rental at a neighborhood location for $149 (don't know if that's a good deal). I booked a compact, but there are only specific models I want. For example, I really don't want to drive the Ford Focus as its very outdated and have poor safety features (since 2011), but would prefer a Hyundai Kona, Mazda CX-3, Nissan Rogue Sport (Qashqai), Jeep Renegade, or Fiat 500L/Fiat 500X. Can I send a message to Avis or call the location maybe a week before my rental so they can get a make/model I like. Also, if they only have a Nissan Versa for me, can I go to the nearest airport to switch it out?
