You can call and request to do it. Make sure the person you give it to knows it's a "paper Rapid Reward" ticket. The paper ones have been phased out and rarely used. Also, no online checkin with the paper ticket.

I have heard...not stating...that if you request the conversion frequently, it might be perceived as selling your ticket. If your not selling it, than I wouldn't even worried about it.
