I stayed at a HI about a week ago. When I got in, I took a bunch of stuff out of my briefcase that I use on the plane but not in the office during the week -- a book, some DVD movies, etc. I put a pair of sunglasses on top of all of that. I ended up not using any of those items during the week, including the sunglasses. I packed up everything back into my briefcase when I checked out, and then I realized after I left that the sunglasses had not been on top of all that stuff. I immediately called the hotel and asked housekeeping to look for the sunglasses. When I called back that afternoon, the sunglasses had not been found. They also have not turned up in my bags as I've unpacked them.

I'm 99% certain that the sunglasses disappeared sometime during the week -- I distinctly remember seeing them on top of my book around mid-week, and I distinctly remember them not being on top when I packed my stuff up. I suspect that housekeeping took them, although I have no proof.

The sunglasses were free to me, although they look expensive, but they have very high sentimental value. (I just got them recently for completing a triathlon.)

Has anyone had a similar experience? What did you do? Any advice for me?
